Sabrina - Being pregnant saved me I dropped out of high school in the 11th grade because my boyfriend and I were using marijuana and heroin. Then I got pregnant. I couldn't kid myself. I knew this was a baby. I also knew what harm I could do if I continued using drugs, but my boyfriend didn't care. I had to find the strength to leave him and look for help for my baby and me. I was lucky to find a Catholic social service agency which connected me with a Narcotics Anonymous group and gave me counseling as well. They even helped me to enter a program to get my high school diploma. |
| Now I have a healthy baby boy, a high school diploma, a full time job, and I'm planning to go to college. What a difference in my life! Now when I look back I realize that being pregnant caused me to re-evaluate my lifestyle and muster up the courage to make some tough but right decisions for a change. I love my baby, and I am so grateful for the help I received in turning my whole life around.
